Citizen Services (VB 3-1-1)

VB 3-1-1 (formerly known as the Public Information Office) has moved and is no longer assisting walk-in customers at Bldg. 22 at the Virginia Beach municipal center.

In-person assistance is provided by the First Impressions Desk in Bldg. 1 at the municipal center. The First Impressions Desk is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is located in the lobby of Building 1 at 2401 Courthouse Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23456.

  • 311 is a simple, easy-to-remember telephone number that connects callers with a Citizen Services Call-Taker who can assist them with city information, services, news and events – 24 hours a day

  • 311 provides Virginia Beach citizens and visitors with a single point of contact for city information and service, 311 can also help to reduce non-emergency call volume in the 911 Emergency Communications Center

  • 311 will work from landline telephones within Virginia Beach city limits

  • Cell phone users, or callers from outside the city limits can dial 385-3111 to reach VB 3-1-1 Citizen Services

  • There is no charge to callers for dialing 311 (applicable long distance or cellular charges may apply when dialing 385-3111)

  • Citizen Services is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year

  • Citizens should dial 9-1-1 only when they have an emergency

  • Dial 9-1-1 for:
    • Medical Emergencies
    • Fires
    • Reporting Accidents
    • Reporting Crimes in Progress
